With RegioGraph 2010, you can place addresses as points on a map for almost all European countries. Find out the most important tips for successful Europe-wide location analysis.
Initial steps:
1.) The addresses to be imported should be in separate, country-specific lists. If necessary, sort the addresses and save them in different worksheets in an Excel file.
2.) Information on the street, place and postcode should be present in three separate columns for all addresses. The order of the house number or postcode does not impact the import process.
3.) Note that you can only import addresses for whose countries you have a corresponding RegioGraph map edition. Check the Map Library (lower lefthand corner of screen) to see which background maps are installed.
Geocoding tips:
Import the addresses as follows: From the File > Import... menu, select Create new objects in the following layer. Select the file path of your addresses.
In step 3, select Use an address to determine the position. Choose the relevant country from the selection menu.
Specify the data columns to be used for the three address fields: street/house number, postcode and place. Begin the geocoding process by clicking Next.
Additional tips:
Although addresses must be imported separately for each country, you can create overarching location layers that encompass all relevant countries. Instead of choosing "New point layer", select the existing layer and add the addresses of each country to it.
