Searching for data: Table queries with RegioGraph

In addition to numerous geographic analysis options, RegioGraph allows you to query or select data directly from within the layer tables. Using a comprehensive set of formulae, you can perform targeted filters of map objects based on user-specified criteria.

Preparation:
The objective is to filter layer objects based on the associated contents in the layer table. Example:

The customer locations that match the following criteria should be selected on the map:
                      A: postcode starts with "2",
                      B: are not wholesalers,
C: generate more than €10,000 in turnover.

Open the relevant layer table or highlight the layer in the map contents window on the open worksheet. In this example, this corresponds to "customer locations".

Query:
Select Table Query from the Map menu...…

You can define the selection conditions in the dialogue window in three steps: On the left, select the column you want to use for the query - in this case, "Postcode". In the center field, choose an operation from the drop-down menu - for example, "starts with". Finally, specify the desired search string in the right field - in this case, "2". You can specify additional conditions using the +-button. .

Query options:
Check the box next to the Select objects option so that all relevant map objects in the layer table are highlighted on the worksheet. (You can then format or export them, for example). In the Data browser field, select Replace current selection. This ensures that all relevant map objects will be compactly listed in a separate overview table.
